Welcome to Jon Tait, Director of Education

Last week Northern Arch completed its first year as a partnership, and what better way to mark the occasion than to introduce you to Jon Tait, our new Executive Director of Education. Jon joins us from Northern Lights Learning Trust and brings with him a wealth of experience and ideas.

In his new role with the Partnership, Jon will drive innovation, support improvements and ensure that colleagues can develop both professionally and personally.

As a former pupil and student at Mowden and QE, Jon couldn’t be better placed to understand our values and the importance of Northern Arch to so many young people in this town and beyond.

Tim Fisher

Born in Darlington and having attended two of the Partnership’s schools and colleges, I feel very much back at home within Northern Arch.

With 25 years of experience in the teaching profession, I have experience of leading schools in various senior leadership roles including Deputy CEO, Director of School Improvement, and Director of Education within two different and diverse North East multi academy trusts.

My passion for professional learning has also led me to become an education author and keynote speaker, having six books published on areas ranging from classroom pedagogy, educational research and school leadership; together with regularly speaking at national and international conferences about all aspects of education.

Outside of education, I am married and have two
college/university aged children (both of whom have come through QE too), have played in the FA cup as a semi-professional footballer, coached American Football for Great Britain and carried the Olympic Torch in the build up to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

I have enjoyed a very warm welcome so far by colleagues across the Partnership and that has been greatly appreciated. Please do stop and say hello if you see me out and about in your school/college.
