Rydal Academy Pupils Take Part in Young Voices 2026 at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena

Pupils from Years 5 and 6 at Rydal Academy were given an unforgettable opportunity this year as they took part in Young Voices 2026 at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield.

The event forms part of Young Voices’ 30th anniversary celebrations, marking three decades of bringing children together through the power of music. Thousands of pupils from across the country joined voices to create one of the largest children’s choirs in the world, performing alongside live musicians and special guest artists.

Rydal pupils proudly joined the massed choir, showcasing their singing skills and experiencing the excitement of performing on a major arena stage. The experience was designed to inspire young people, build confidence and promote teamwork through music.

In preparation for the concert, staff at Rydal Academy were provided with a Young Voices music pack, allowing pupils to rehearse and develop their performance skills in school ahead of the event.

Speaking about the experience, Mr Armitage, Headteacher of Rydal Academy commented:

“Taking part in Young Voices 2026 was a truly exceptional experience for our pupils. Performing alongside thousands of other children in such a professional setting helped build confidence, teamwork and a real sense of achievement. We are incredibly proud of our pupils and the dedication they showed in preparing for this unforgettable event. Thank you to the staff for their drive to make this happen. Thanks also to the Young Voices Foundation and the Stephen Hughes Foundation for their support in making the whole thing possible.”

The experience proved to be both educational and memorable, giving pupils the chance to be part of a landmark celebration of music while creating lasting memories with their peers.
