Governance Structure and Accountability

Members:

Members are the guardians of the governance of the Trust, ensuring that the charitable objects are fulfilled. They have ultimate control over the Trust.

Trust Board of Directors:

Directors have overarching responsibility for the operation and management of the Trust and are legally accountable for the statutory functions and performance of all academies within the Trust.

Local Governing Boards and Committees:

To assist the Trust’s operation, the Trust Board delegates powers and functions to the LGBs and other committees. The LGBs govern each Academy on behalf of the Trust Board and provide information to the Board on each Academy’s performance.

The Trust has also established the following Committees:

  • Finance & Audit Committee
  • Standards Committee
  • Pay & Review Committee
  • LGB Strategy Alignment Group

Accountability

The Trust Board has collective accountability and strategic responsibility for the Trust and is responsible for the three core governance functions:

  • strategic leadership
  • accountability and assurance
  • strategic engagement

It has a focus on ensuring the Trust delivers an excellent education to pupils while maintaining effective financial management and ensures compliance with:

  • the trust’s charitable objects
  • regulatory, contractual and statutory requirements
  • the funding agreement

The Trust Board also has strategic and statutory responsibility for

  • safeguarding and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) arrangements across the Trust
  • ensuring the promotion of pupil welfare
  • keeping the estates safe and well-maintained
